Skylight Information

Fixed vs. Venting Skylights:

Fixed simply refers to a skylight that does not open, it is "fixed" in it's position forever. Learn more about our fixed skylight styles here.

A venting skylight refers to a skylight that opens, or "vents". These units can be manually operated via a crank handle or extention pole, or they can be electrically operated using a wall switch or hand held remote control. Learn more about our venting skylight styles here.

Flat Roof Skylights:

Most skylights are not suitable for installation on a flat roof, or any roof with less than a 3/12 pitch. When installing skylights on a flat or less than 3/12 pitched roof you must be very careful what style and installation method you choose or you will faced with certain leaking.

Glass Option:

Since the beginning of skylight manufacturing there has typically been three options; plastic, acrylic, or glass. Plastic and acrylic are great options in certain situation but in today's residential skylight market you will mostly find glass. Glass comes in a few different styles. The style that is right for you is mostly affected by what region in the country that you are located, your energy efficiiency needs, and local or regional building codes.
